J.J. Watt got his wish and was released by the Houston Texans last month. Now Deshaun Watson is hoping for a similar fate.
In his Arizona Cardinals introductory press conference on Tuesday, Watt admitted that he wants Watson to be happy, whether it be with the Texans or elsewhere.
"I love Deshaun. I love Deshaun," Watt said, according to Pro Football Talk. "We speak often. He's an incredible player, but he's an incredible person. He's a special human being and he's obviously unbelievably talented as an athlete, but he is also just a great person. And I tell him, the one thing I want for Deshaun Watson is for him to be happy. He deserves it and I want him to be happy. So whatever that looks like for him, that's what I want for him."
Watson and Watt shared a memorable moment after Houston's final game of the 2020 season. After finishing 4-12, Watt apologized to the quarterback for a "wasted" year.
"I'm sorry, we wasted one of your years."

According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, Watson recently reiterated his desire to be traded, though the Texans have no interest in moving him. However, if he becomes available, several teams are expected to show interest, including the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets and Carolina Panthers.
With Watt now reunited in Arizona with DeAndre Hopkins, some have speculated that the Cardinals could make a move for Watson, though that's highly unlikely based on the franchise's thoughts about 2019 Offensive Rookie of the Year Kyler Murray, who had a great 2020 season.
