The Philadelphia Eagles have had their fair share of players come and go through the organization, but there might be some recent departures who are on the verge of reaching the pinnacle of their careers.
One in particular is a bit of a surprise that he hasn't been signed: Jack Driscoll. The former Eagles offensive lineman was a fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He played tackle and guard with Philly and was a strong role player on the roster.
Driscoll started 18 of 67 games during his five-year career with the Eagles. He's still unemployed, but it's unclear why.
Driscoll's versatility is critical to have on any offensive line, especially with the backups. He has played tackle and right guard during his time in Philadelphia.
Last season, he took 110 snaps on offense and 76 on special teams with the Eagles. He appeared in 13 games and started in one of them. Pro Football Focus gave Driscoll an overall grade of 72.3, which was ranked 26th of 136 guards in the NFL last year.
It's odd that Driscoll hasn't been able to land a job since becoming a free agent this offseason, as he proved to be a great depth player on any team. Another team should consider bringing him in and using him as one of their backups.
The good news is that the Eagles would most likely bring him back to the team if there were any injuries to their offensive line. Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland would trust Driscoll to hold up in the starting lineup if they needed him to.
It does beg the question on whether there isn't another call from any of the remaining 31 NFL teams. Could this be the end for Driscoll? At 28 years old, it seems hard to believe, but training camp is around the corner and it's starting to certainly feel like it.
Eagles fans hope to see Driscoll back on another roster, if Philadelphia doesn't bring him back themselves.
