Joe Buck sheds light on his process with glimpse of 'MNF' notes

Joe Buck might be a mad man.

A very detailed, color coordinated mad man.

ESPN’s veteran broadcaster shared a photo of his hand-written NFL playoff picture notes to use as a reference during Monday night’s Los Angeles Rams - Atlanta Falcons game.

Red ink. Blue ink. Black ink. Circled scenarios, underlined words, all caps. Buck’s notes are seemingly more detailed than a Jon Gruden offensive play call.

And Buck’s notes don’t stop with just AFC and NFC playoff scenarios. He came prepared with a bevy of information about every NFL team. Yes, even the hapless Jets (whom he noted were still without an interception) found their way onto Buck’s Monday Night Football masterpiece.

Troy Aikman’s longtime broadcast partner even had info jotted down about players on teams other than the Rams and Falcons.

For instance, Buck noted Christian McCaffrey playing 57 offensive snaps and Drake Maye’s absurd completion percentage.

Buck might have had more notes on this one page than JaMarcus Russell did in his entire NFL career of, ahem, “preparation.”

There appears to be a clear method to Buck’s madness too. Black pen indicates team names and records. Blue pen adds game results and notes about players/coaches. As for red pen, that appears to be Buck’s specific playoff scenario reminders and a few other notes that escaped blue ink.

Who knew the broadcast booth inside Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium would be even more chaotic than the Falcons’ 27-24 win over the Rams?
