Joe Burrow Didn't Want to Influence Bengals Stars Contract Decisions

On March 18, superstar wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins signed contract extensions with the Cincinnati Bengals after arriving at Paycor Stadium together.

Star quarterback Joe Burrow made comments saying that the Bengals needed to hold on to their weapons, and Chase said that those comments were "a big help" in him eventually re-signing.

Burrow was asked in a press conference on Tuesday if he thinks his comments held a lot of weight.

"I hope not a lot," Burrow said. "I think when you have two guys like that who, like I’ve said, you draft, they play great for you, you win a lot of games, they’re very productive — those are guys you want to reward. And I’m glad they’re here."

Despite the fact that he got his two weapons back for the foreseeable future, Burrow did not want to play a factor in them re-signing, as he wanted that to be their decision only.

"That's not really the position I want to be in," the star QB said.

Both signed four-year deals, with Chase's being worth $161 million, and Higgins' being worth $115 million.

If it wasn't for Higgins missing some time with injuries, the star wide receiver duo would have both finished with over 1,000 yards receiving and 10 or more touchdowns.

The Bengals missed the playoffs this past season for the second year in a row, so the trio of Burrow, Chase, and Higgins will be looking to get the team back on track in 2025.
