Recently, quarterback Joe Burrow confidently said that he feels his Cincinnati Bengals "have everything we need" to end the club's playoff drought that extended to three years this past January.
While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Burrow expanded on his warning to opposing teams regarding what the Bengals could achieve through this coming winter.
"I think this is the most talented roster that we've had since I've been here," Burrow said about the Bengals, per Nick Shook of the NFL's website.
Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II, safety Bryan Cook, safety Kyle Dugger, edge-rusher Boye Mafe and defensive tackle Jonathan Allen are among the proven players that the Bengals have acquired since they ended the 2025 season with a record of 6-11. During the 2026 NFL Draft, Cincinnati selected pass-rusher Cashius Howell in the second round and cornerback Tacario Davis in the third round.
On offense, Burrow still has playmakers such as wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, fellow wideout Tee Higgins and running back Chase Brown as noteworthy weapons. As of Wednesday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Bengals at -170 betting odds to qualify for the next postseason tournament.
The toe injury Burrow suffered in Week 2 of the 2025 season ultimately kept him sidelined until Week 13, and it was just the latest setback he has endured since the Bengals made him the first overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. If he stays healthy and is right about the state of the Cincinnati roster, he could be mentioned as a legitimate Most Valuable Player Award candidate by the time 2027 begins.
"You always want to be MVP of the league, Super Bowl MVP, win a Super Bowl," Burrow added during his comments. "All those things are… I'm not necessarily sure I'd say a seasonal goal of mine would be to do that because you never know how things will play out. As far as winning the MVP, a lot of things have to go right. I'd like to win one eventually, for sure."
Burrow staying healthy for more than a handful of games is likely the main thing that must "go right" for Cincinnati this coming season. If he can start a minimum of 17 games, he may get his hands on at least one trophy come February.
