After missing the playoffs in 2025, the Cincinnati Bengals and quarterback Joe Burrow have put together a strong start to the 2026 NFL season. After back-to-back wins, including Sunday’s comeback victory over the Baltimore Ravens, the Bengals are 4-2 and in third place in a tight AFC North race.

Perhaps the biggest reason for the Bengals’ success has been Burrow’s outstanding play. After playing only eight games last season, the three-time Pro Bowler has bounced back in a big way. Through six games this year, Burrow is completing a career-high 71.7% of his passes for 1,653 yards, 15 touchdowns, and only three interceptions.

Burrow has been especially efficient over his last two games. After a four-touchdown performance against the Miami Dolphins in Week 5, Burrow carried that momentum through the bye and into Week 7.

He recorded another four-touchdown outing against Baltimore, with each of those four touchdown passes coming after halftime. Trailing 13-0 at the half, Burrow and the Bengals came out of the locker room swinging. Cincinnati scored 35 unanswered points after the break to blow out their divisional rival.

Now tied for second in the NFL in passing touchdowns and ranking second in passer rating among passers with over 100 attempts, Burrow earned recognition from the NFL for his Week 7 performance.

The NFL announced on X that Burrow is one of the nominees for the FedEx Air and Ground Player of the Week award.

Burrow is leading the Bengals once again as they maintain one of the most productive offenses in football. Through Week 7, Cincinnati is averaging 27.2 points per game, fourth in the NFL.

With Cincinnati now 4-2 and Burrow continuing to play at a high level, the Bengals have every reason to believe they can compete with the top of the AFC.
