The Baltimore Ravens opened their NFL season with a heartbreaking 41-40 loss against the Buffalo Bills, a game that showcased both offensive firepower and defensive lapses.
Lamar Jackson completed 14-of-19 passes for 209 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, while Derrick Henry amassed 169 rushing yards and two touchdowns, yet the Ravens still fell by a point.
While Baltimore bounced back on Sunday with a commanding 41-17 win over the Cleveland Browns, it was an off-the-field storyline that quickly stole the headlines.
On Sunday evening, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Ravens had lined up Colorado product Shedeur Sanders with the 141st pick in the fifth round of April’s draft.
According to league sources, Sanders sent word he did not want to go to Baltimore, citing a desire to avoid sitting behind two-time MVP Lamar Jackson. Baltimore then pivoted, selecting offensive lineman Carson Vinson and Sanders slid three spots before Cleveland took him at No. 144.
When pressed Monday about the Sanders report, Ravens' coach John Harbaugh said, "We have a policy here that we don’t talk about the draft-room decision-making process. I’m not gonna be able to answer that for you, as much as I may like to or may not want to."

Sanders, now Cleveland’s third-string quarterback behind Joe Flacco and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, declined to elaborate after the Browns’ latest loss.
"My response is I’m focused on the now," he told ESPN Cleveland. "I don’t really talk about anything in the past… I’m more focused on this game and figuring out how to move forward from now."
The Ravens stay home for a primetime game against the Detroit Lions on "Monday Night Football," where Baltimore is currently a 5.5-point favorite with a 51.5 over/under, per ESPN BET.
Meanwhile, the Browns head back to Huntington Bank Field for a brutal matchup against the 2-0 Green Bay Packers, with ESPN BET listing the Packers as 7.5-point favorites with a 42.5 over/under.
