John Harbaugh is more than ready to face brother Jim in the NFL playoffs again, should the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers meet.

Jim Harbaugh returned to the NFL this offseason after his tenure at Michigan concluded with a national championship back in January. One of the lasting memories of his San Francisco 49ers days was losing Super Bowl XLVII to John and the Ravens.

They won’t face each other in a Super Bowl now, but John acknowledged an AFC playoff meeting is surely on the table.

“It’s 50-50 man, that’s a double edged sword, right,” John Harbaugh said on The Lounge Podcast. “Because I want them to be successful and I want to be in the playoffs … Number one, I want to be in the playoffs … Number two is I want him to be in the playoffs. I want them to be successful, for sure. He’s my brother. And if we play him I want to win.

“That’s another long shot thing and I know he feels exactly the same way. If for some reason, you know, whenever it happens if they’re in the Super Bowl, which I’m rooting for him to be in the Super Bowl, I will be rooting for him just like the National Championship game right? All in for them to win that game.”

But again, the Harbaugh brothers are competitive and neither wants to lose to the other.

“But not (an AFC) Championship game,” John Harbaugh said. “If we’re playing in the championship game, it’s gonna be just like the Super Bowl, and it’s hard. It’s tough. It’s hard to lose that game. It’s even harder to win that game because you got to go shake hands. I think there’s some clips coming back out about that whole thing.

“That was a tough moment. It was a tough moment. You know? It’s not all joy when it’s your brother on the other side of that deal.”

The Super Bowl between the Harbaugh brothers was a classic. It looked like a runaway win for the Ravens until a blackout in the stadium and a 49ers comeback later made it a memorable one.

To this day, John Harbaugh only made one Super Bowl, which he won.

Of course, Jim finally got his national title and now might have to go through his brother John to finally get the Lombardi Trophy.
