John Harbaugh guarantees Ravens will pick up Lamar Jackson's fifth-year option

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh left no doubts about Lamar Jackson's future in Baltimore while speaking on "The Rich Eisen Show" on Tuesday.

According to ESPN's Jamison Hensley, Harbaugh guaranteed that the Ravens would pick up Jackson's fifth-year option ahead of Monday's deadline.

Jackson will make a guaranteed $23.1 million in 2022, which is a significant raise from his $1.7 million salary this season, Hensley notes. He will have the highest fifth-year option in the league next season, tying Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

The 24-year-old has been one of the best quarterbacks in the league since being drafted by Baltimore in 2018. He is 30-7 in three seasons, completing 64% of his passes for 7,085 yards and 68 touchdowns against 18 interceptions. He has also ran for 2,906 yards and 19 scores.

The biggest question surrounding Jackson entering the 2020 campaign was his ability to succeed in the playoffs. He squashed that speculation by leading Baltimore to a win over the Tennessee Titans in the Wild Card Round.

Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta confirmed earlier this month that the team has begun extension talks with Jackson. It's unclear what kind of deal he'll land, though.
