The Baltimore Ravens' decision to move on from John Harbaugh sent shockwaves through the NFL.
Not many people expected the former Super Bowl-winning head coach to become available, and he became the leading candidate for virtually every head-coaching opening in the league. Harbaugh decided not to take any interviews last week, but he's now gearing up to face his next challenge. And, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, he's already doing his due diligence on two young quarterbacks.
"John Harbaugh is spending today and the next few days watching film specifically on quarterbacks Jaxson Dart and Cam Ward. He’s also been in contact with team decision makers, while continuing to communicate with potential members of his own coaching staff," Russini wrote on X.
The New York Giants have reportedly made Harbaugh their top priority. The Tennessee Titans, on the other hand, have interviewed with at least five candidates already, including Kansas City Chiefs assistants Steve Spagnuolo and Matt Nagy and Indianapolis Colts DC Lou Anarumo.
Both Dart and Ward look like potential stars in the making under the right tutelage. Then again, both teams also have plenty of work to do to get even close to playoff contention. We've seen how much hiring the right head coach can do to turn a franchise around almost overnight.
And given Harbaugh's pedigree in the league, with 11 double-digit-win seasons in 18 years with Baltimore, he's going to have plenty of options to choose from for his next professional challenge.
