The Ravens have fallen to 1-5, and frustration is building across Baltimore. Recently, many fans have been openly questioning John Harbaugh and whether his leadership can still deliver results. While he’s been a steady figure for over a decade, the current skid shows how much his success leans on Lamar Jackson‘s performance.
Over the past few seasons, John Harbaugh has faced criticism for in-game decisions and slow adjustments. Mismanaging games, multiple blown double-digit leads, conservative play-calling, and predictable schemes have contributed to costly losses.
These repeated mistakes have piled up over the years, and the results show it as Harbaugh has just four playoff wins since 2013.

That’s the most by any coach since at least 1991.

Although these moments often are forgotten about when Jackson shines, they’ve quietly added pressure to a coaching staff that hasn’t evolved much.
This season, the same mismanagement problems have shown up again, only now they’re much harder to ignore.
John Harbaugh’s team looks sloppy and undisciplined, with mistakes piling up week after week. Missed tackles and poor execution on both sides of the ball have become routine for the Ravens, who look unprepared once the games start.
Starting Cooper Rush in Week 6 didn’t help Harbaugh. He threw three interceptions the week before and struggled against Houston. Not much changed against the Rams, as Rush turned the ball over and couldn’t finish drives near the goal line.
When Tyler Huntley finally entered late against LA, the offense looked better, prompting the question of whether Huntley should’ve started from the beginning and a sign that some of their problems started with the coaching decisions.
Despite the offensive line struggling this season, John Harbaugh continues to stick with the same starting group. Many missed blocks and protection issues have blown up drives, yet no adjustments have been made.
Lamar Jackson remains the heartbeat of this team. His playmaking and ability to extend plays hides many of the Ravens’ flaws. The numbers show how much Jackson elevates this team.
With him, the Ravens look like the best offenses in the league. Without him, the production completely collapses, exposing how much he’s been hiding deeper issues across the coaching staff.

For multiple years, Jackson has kept Baltimore competitive and kept Harbaugh out of deeper trouble — Jackson boasts a 75-32 record.
At 1-5 coming off the bye week, John Harbaugh faces his toughest point in his tenure as a head coach. The Ravens have a lighter schedule ahead, and he’s counting on a strong run to climb into playoff contention and potentially win the division. Once, again his job depends on Lamar Jackson, who has been buoying his coaching resume tremendously over the years.
