John Spytek Names GM Who Wanted to Trade for Maxx Crosby

The Las Vegas Raiders had some big question marks heading into the offseason. One of the biggest lingering issues over the franchise was the future of star defensive end Maxx Crosby.

He has been honest about the frustration he's felt over the team lacking stability. He also had no issue pointing out that he had no more guaranteed money left on his contract.

This led to a lot of trade rumors surrounding Crosby. Once the Raiders hired John Spytek as general manager, one of his first jobs was figuring out what to do with Crosby.

He ended up signing the All-Pro to a record-breaking contract extension. However, that didn't mean he didn't receive some calls about Crosby before the deal was signed, including from his former boss, Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht.

"Sure, there's plenty of people who, you're a new GM, and they want to see if they can shake your trees and see if they can steal somebody from you ... maybe or maybe not Jason Licht tried to get him before I even got a jet to Vegas," Spytek said when asked if teams were intrested in trading for Crosby on the " 3 and Out with John Middlekauff" podcast.

Crosby is the face of the Raiders right now, so trading him as Spytek's first big move would've been a massive risk. Locking him down long-term was a logical move, especially as the team begins to establish a new culture under head coach Pete Carroll. Crosby will be a Raider for years to come.
