The No. 1 and No. 2 picks of the 2023 NFL Draft are set to butt heads once again, but this time upon the practice field, Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales announced Tuesday.

Quarterbacks Bryce Young and the Houston Texans' C.J. Stroud will meet for the second time as the Texans will host the Panthers for a joint practice ahead of their August 16 preseason matchup.

"That'll be a great one, you know," Canales said of the preseason matchup. "It's warm here; it's really warm in Houston. I was in Tampa for a year, but I've also heard Houston just gives you that good work, and the humidity and the heat will be great, especially opening up at Jacksonville. So, it'll be a great opportunity for us to get on the road."

While preseason games and practices are often overlooked by fans, for the players and coaches, it's a valuable opportunity to get a first look at the roster, as well as offseason changes and developments.

With joint practices, it's a chance to experience high-level competition with a team the Texans aren't so familiar with before the real action arrives come season time.

The last time Young and Stroud duked it came in October 2023 when the Panthers topped the Texans 15-13. Young won the quarterback bout with 235 passing yards and a passing touchdown compared to Stroud's 140 passing yards.

For the Texans, it'll be their third straight year of hosting a joint camp session ahead of preseason.

Their August 16 contest against Carolina is one of their three preseason games before their 2025 regular season, with other matchups scheduled against the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions.
