The Washington Commanders have been in a great position as they are 4-2 and sit atop the NFC East. However, defensive tackle Jonathan Allen suffered an injury during their Week 6 game against the Baltimore Ravens and it is feared to be a season-ending injury. This would be significant news for the Washington Commanders as Jonathan Allen has emerged for Dan Quinn’s defense this season. Let’s take a closer look at what we know right now and what this means for the team going forward.

Jonathan Allen to Miss 2024 Season?

Jonathan Allen has been a standout for the Washington Commanders this season as he has been a star for the defensive line this year. He suffered a pectoral injury during the game against the Baltimore Ravens and the team is fearing that this would be a season-ending injury, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. He would not be the only star defensive lineman to suffer a major injury as the Detroit Lions saw defensive end Aidan Hutchinson suffer a fractured tibia and fibula.

While statistically, it does not appear to be a major loss, as he has 15 total tackles (13 solo, two assisted) with a pair of sacks, but he has been looking great in defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr.’s game plan. With the injury to Jonathan Allen, expect to see rookie Jer’Zhan Newton be elevated to the starting defensive tackle spot in his place. This will be something to track as the Commanders are tied for eighth with the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers with 17 total sacks this season.
