On February 2, 2026, the Packers made the hiring of Jonathan Gannon official. Three months later, we are finally getting his first press conference as defense coordinator of the Packers.

Since Gannon has been on board, the team has made little information available. There is not really an answer as to why the introductory press conference has taken this long. Nevertheless, Gannon will speak to reporters today at 12:30 PM CST.

Most recently, Gannon was the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. A role that has now been filled by Matt LaFleur’s younger brother, Mike. Gannon is still a young coach, but brings plenty of experience to Green Bay.

What to Watch for in Gannon’s Presser

There are plenty of questions reporters will be looking for answers to. Specifically, what kind of defensive scheme is Gannon planning on bringing? With his experience, there are already questions we think we know the answer to.

Before Arizona, Gannon coached the Philadelphia Eagles defense. Led by plenty of star studded players, coaching still matters. Being part of a Super Bowl team is an impressive feat in itself.

The opportunity to coach arguably a top two pass rusher in Micah Parsons is certainly a draw to the position. Sometimes, a change of scenery after a head coaching stint is exactly what a solid coordinator needs.

With the coaching staff finalized, we will get a glimpse into how the defensive staff will utilize the current players and new draft picks.

Brian Gutekunst heavily focused on the defense in this draft. Four of the six players in this class are all on defense. While the addition of Parsons was a massive swing, there is still several things that need to be addressed.

Packers fans will want to see a confident coordinator with a clear plan. It is hard to follow Jeff Hafley in terms of winning the press conference. However, that does not necessarily mean Gannon won’t be the right fit for this particular group.

A spark on defense is what is needed to keep the team competitive. Parsons cannot do this on his own, especially coming off an ACL injury. All we can hope for is that Jonathan Gannon has the right answers and attitude. Soon enough, we will know if the players are bought in.
