As the most important player playing the most crucial position for the Green Bay Packers, Jordan Love carries a ton of pressure on his shoulders to deliver for his team.
The training wheels have long been taken off the quarterback, as he now enters his third season as Green Bay’s full-time starter.
As Aaron Rodgers’ successor under center, Love is fully aware of the huge footsteps he’s following, and that when it comes to the team he plays for, the goal every year is to bring home the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Many expect Love to rebound from a slight regresssion in 2024, which is also why the thumb injury on his non-throwing hand he suffered last month brought so much concern to fans. It was immediately deemed as something that wasn’t serious enough to threaten Love’s availability in the 2025 campaign despite addressing the problem with surgery.
With Green Bay just days away from playing their season opener against the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field, some concerns swirl again around the status of his finger.
The 26-year-old Love is still sporting a tape on his thumb, but he doesn’t seem to be worried about his ability to use his left hand in doing quarterback duties. On Wednesday, the former Utah State Aggies star signal-caller told reporters as much.
Via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic:
“Jordan Love said the brace/tape on his left thumb isn’t limiting at all. He said he’ll even be able to hand off the right way on Sunday after not doing so in practice to protect the thumb”
Hopefully for Green Bay, Love will indeed play just fine without being hampered by the thumb issue against the Lions and for the entire season. In 2024, Love passed for 3,389 yards and 25 touchdowns against 11 interceptions through 15 games.
