Jordan Love: ESPN Projects Regression From Green Bay Packers QB In 2024
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The 2024 NFL season is quickly approaching and the Green Bay Packers have been back on the field for offseason workouts. Jordan Love has been present during those workouts even without a new contract extension.

Of course, that is one of the big storylines that still surrounds the Packers. Will they give their young quarterback a massive extension now? Or, do they want to wait for a bit to see if he can start the 2024 season the same way he finished the 2023 campaign?

It’s a tough decision that Brian Gutekunst and the Green Bay front office is facing. Love appears to be the long-term face of the franchise, but paying big too early is a very dangerous thing to do. Either way, it seems likely that a new deal with Love will get done in the near future.

However, new projections from ESPN show an expectation that Jordan Love regresses during the upcoming season.

ESPN Projects Regression From Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love In 2024

In their new 2024 projections, ESPN showed a major drop in numbers from Love in his second year as the starting quarterback in Green Bay.

According to the new ESPN projections, Love will end up completing 325 of his 509 pass attempts for 3,669 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. That’s almost 500 yards less, five touchdowns less, and two interceptions more than last year. He is also projected to rush for 211 yards and three touchdowns, which are lower than last year’s totals as well.

Granted, they are just projections, but they’re fairly rough projections. Love is expected by many to be even better in 2024 than he was last season. This kind of regression would bump him down a step from where he has been placed among NFL starters after the end to last year.

Jordan Love has all of the weapons he needs to have a very successful campaign this year. His wide receiver targets are loaded, he has two quality tight ends, and he has a great backfield to take pressure off of his arm.

Needless to say, it will be interesting to see if he outperforms the expectations that ESPN has laid out for him. The Green Bay Packers could certainly use a bigger year than the projections suggest.

Expect to see Jordan Love come out looking to prove himself once again. He has a drive to be great and has valuable experience under his belt. Hopefully, he can not only beat these projections, but actually raise his numbers from the 2023 season.
