After the Packers regressed over the past two seasons, Jordan Love is ready to take a big step.
Love has played his way to the doorstep of being recognized as one of the premier quarterbacks across the league, after guiding the Packers to the NFC Divisional Round and NFC Wild Card Round in his first two seasons as a starter.
However, with a pivotal 2025 season looming, and after being paid as one of the top passers in the sport, Love believes the pieces are in place for the Packers to make another lengthy playoff run.
As Love begins his third season as the starter, growing as a leader on the field and throughout the building is a top priority for the Packers’ quarterback.
“My confidence level is always pretty high,” Love told reporters durning minicamp earlier this month. “But, I do feel it, each year you come into it, you gain new confidence. Every rep you take, you gain confidence.
“Obviously, coming back hear, going into year six, I’ve got confidence every year going into OTAs and understanding the process that we’ve got to go through. Now, going into my third year starting, I kind of know what is expected, to get ready for training camp, get ready for the season, and keep pushing the envelope with everything we do, pushing myself, pushing the guys, but we’re ready to go, ready for the season.”
A confident Love, and improved supporting cast could be trouble for the rest of the NFC.
For Love, getting closer to bringing home the first Super Bowl of his career, and cementing his status as one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL begins with building the chemistry with his young receivers, including incoming first-round rookie Matthew Golden.
“That’s the next step,” Love said. “That consistency and being on the same page. There were a couple of plays where we had some really good body language on top of the read and understanding where they’re going to be at on their routes. There’s some times where, we’re not on the same page. I think that just comes with reps.
“It’s about going through different things, seeing different looks, with every play we do. So, Every rep we get is very valuable, and that’s going to be the test for us this year; how close can we get, how much can we be on the same page, because my time with Aaron and Davante, you’d see that. It’s tough for defenses to stop that.”
