Jordan Love shares hilarious message Aaron Rodgers sent him before first playoff game

Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love spent three years together in Green Bay. You could expect a strange relationship, since Love got drafted to be Rodgers' replacement with the Packers. But despite the tense final stretch with the team's management, the veteran quarterback acknowledges that Love didn't choose this path.

So they have some kind of friendship, which includes texts throughout the season. As a part of that, Rodgers sent a hilarious message right before Love's first playoff start, against the Dallas Cowboys.

"He texted me a couple of times before the playoff games. A funny one, he texted me before the Cowboys game," Love recalled during an interview to Kay Adams. "He said 'Don't be like me and throw a pick on your first pass in the playoffs.' A funny little text. I made sure to try and do him right and not throw a pick. It was fun. He hit me up after a lot of the games, and it's awesome just to be able to talk to him."

That one, in fact, a tough game. In the 2009 postseason, the Packers lost 51-45 to the Arizona Cardinals. Rodgers played pretty well, completing 28 of 42 passes for 423 yards, four touchdowns and one pick. But that interception was exactly his first throw. Later, the game went to overtime, Rodgers suffered a fumble, and it was returned to the game-winning touchdown for the Cardinals. Gladfully for Rodgers and the Packers, they played much better one year later, winning his only Super Bowl as Green Bay's quarterback.

Love didn't throw an interception in his first playoff throw, nor in his first playoff game. He was almost perfect against the Cowboys, completing 16 of 21 passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns, with a 157.2 passer rating.

That doesn't mean Love is immune to mistakes. The following week, he threw two picks and had a 72.4 passer rating during the Packers loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Rodgers and Love shared so many similarities to start their careers, but there are also differences. Love reached the playoffs, for instance, in his first year as a starter. One thing that Love hopes is repeated, though, is a Super Bowl title in his second postseason appearance.
