Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love suffered a concussion in the first half of Saturday’s 22–16 overtime loss to the Chicago Bears after absorbing a hard hit to the head from defender Austin Booker.
Love stayed down briefly after the play before jogging to the blue medical tent on the visitors’ sideline at Soldier Field. Following a short evaluation, he was escorted to the locker room. The Packers ruled Love out for the remainder of the game after halftime, and head coach Matt LaFleur said Sunday that Love had entered the concussion protocol but was improving.
Booker was penalized for unnecessary roughness due to a helmet-to-helmet hit.
Malik Willis replaced Love at quarterback and performed efficiently, completing 9 of 11 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown while adding 44 rushing yards. Willis had gone 2–0 as a starter last season while filling in for Love. However, Willis suffered a shoulder injury against Chicago on the final play of regulation when he took a sack from Montez Sweat.
While he was able to finish the game, he fumbled a snap on the Packers' only overtime possession, which the Bears recovered, leading to Caleb Williams' game-winning deep ball to DJ Moore.
The Packers (9–5–1) will host the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17.
