Don't count out the Packers.
Jordan Love's solid outing in Green Bay's preseason opener Friday night is a sign not to take the team lightly as it moves on from future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The third-year quarterback appeared poised in his two series, capping off a seven-play drive with nice touch on a nine-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Romeo Doubs.

Love was in command of the offense, which showed up more in the game film than in his stats. He finished a respectable 7-of-10 for 46 yards, which hardly tells the entire story.

ESPN's Dan Orlovsky was left impressed after analyzing one of Love's incompletions as he highlighted the young quarterback's ability to pull a linebacker in coverage away from his intended target with his eyes. Love overthrew tight end Luke Musgrave on the play when he could have taken a beat and used a little more touch on the attempt due to how well he got the linebacker to bite.

"That was the one I wish I could get back, that throw over the middle to Luke," Love said after the game.
Still, for his first outing as the No. 1 QB in Green Bay, Love appeared in control, unquestionably a promising sign.
Per OddsChecker, Green Bay (+400) has the third-best odds of winning the NFC North, trailing Detroit (+145) and Minnesota (+300). But Love's solid performance might be a reason to reconsider those odds.
The Vikings were one of the worst division champs in football last season, finishing with a minus-3 point differential. Their defense ranked 31st, allowing 388.7 yards per game.
The Lions, meanwhile, have a long history of misery. Are we sure they're capable of having nice things?
Considering Green Bay's history at quarterback, the least shocking outcome in the division would be for Love to break out this year and spend the next 15-20 seasons dominating the North.
The Packers are one of the biggest wild cards in the NFL this season with their future hinging on Love's development. So far, so good.
