Jordan Poyer has major revelation about return to Bills

Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer turned a few heads at the start of the offseason when he said on his podcast that a warm place where he could see the sun and a state that didn’t take half his money were among the things he was taking into consideration as he chose where he wanted to play in 2023.

While many were expecting the Poyer-to-Miami announcement to come any day, the 31-year-old All-Pro chose to stay right where he is, signing a two-year deal worth up to $14.5 million with the Bills on Wednesday.

"I knew that this is where I wanted to be," Poyer told reporters on Thursday. "I knew that this is where I wanted to play and that these are my people. I've been here six years. I love it here.

"I'm home now and this is where I'm going to finish my career, and I'm really excited about that."

Poyer joined the Bills in 2017. He was named a first-team All-Pro in 2021 and he made his first Pro Bowl in 2022. He’s recorded four or more interceptions in four of his six years in Buffalo with 44 total passes defensed.

He was linked to several teams including the Miami Dolphins, Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas Raiders, but the family-like atmosphere the Bills have cultivated was enough to persuade Poyer to finish his career in Buffalo.

"Being here with the guys that I'm here with, being here in the community, a community I've grown to love, and just seeing all the people in here today, I can damn near start crying," Poyer added. "Because you see all the people in here you built a relationship with over the last six years and just how excited they are to have you back in the building. It's pretty special."
