Jordyn Brooks is On Pace to Make Miami Dolphins History
In a 2025 season for the Miami Dolphins defined by inconsistency, linebacker Jordyn Brooks has been a rare stabilizing force. The former first-round pick back in the 2020 NFL Draft has been the Dolphins’ most effective tackler by leaps and bounds — so much so that he’s on track for numbers that will put him in rarified air in franchise history.
Through 12 games played this season, Brooks ranks tops in the league in solo tackles (77) and combined tackles (137). For perspective, he’s averaging more than six solo stops and nearly 12 combined tackles per contest in his sixth season in the NFL and second playing in Miami.
If he continues to send opponents to the turf at this rate for the rest of Miami’s 17-game slate, he will set the record for most solo tackles by a Dolphins player in a single season. Dolphins legend Zach Thomas holds the franchise record with 107 back in the 2005 campaign, but Brooks is on pace to end up with 109.
Brooks’ relentlessness on the defensive side of the ball has earned him two AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors this season already. He most recently took home the hardware for his incredible 20-tackle performance in Miami’s win over the Washington Commanders in Madrid, and it’s possible he’ll earn more of those awards by season’s end.
The 28-year-old also deserves some credit for the Dolphins’ season turnaround in recent weeks. With him as its anchor, Miami’s defensive unit has allowed just 43 points in its last three games combined, and it’s no coincidence that the team won every one of those games. A Dolphins team that looked dead in the water mere weeks ago is all of a sudden riding a winning streak, and it is still technically in the playoff race, even though it isn’t likely that the squad will qualify.
