Josh Allen on Sunday added to his NFL career record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in the Buffalo Bills’ big come-from-behind win over the Cincinnati Bengals, and he did it in style.
The Bills trailed 28-18 with less than nine minutes left to play when they began a possession at their own 32-yard line. Four plays later, Allen took a shotgun snap from the Bengals’ 40-yard line and sprinted untouched down the left sideline for a touchdown. On the Bengals’ very next possession, Joe Burrow threw a pick-6 to Christian Benford that gave the Bills a lead they would not relinquish in a 39-34 victory.
In addition to the rushing touchdown, Allen added three passing TDs. The reigning NFL MVP might just be back in the mix to repeat that honor. He’s got 22 TD passes and 12 TD runs through 13 games.

Allen’s 40-yard touchdown run was not only a personal best, it set a new Bills’ team record as the longest TD run for a quarterback. It was Allen’s 77th career rushing touchdown, adding to the record he set last week. His Week 13 rushing score broke the tie with Cam Newton, who owned the record of 75 when he retired in 2021.
Allen’s 12 rushing scores so far this season ties his total from 2024. His career best was 15 in 2023 — meaning he currently has 39 rushing touchdowns in the last three seasons.
Only running backs Jonathan Taylor and Jahmyr Gibbs have more rushing touchdowns than Allen this season.
Allen leads the way in what might be something of a golden age for dual-threat quarterbacks. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is third on that all-time list behind Allen and Newton with 63 career rushing touchdowns.
Aaron Rodgers scored his first rushing touchdown since 2022 in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 27-22 win over the Baltimore Ravens. It was his 36th career rushing touchdown, tying him with Michael Vick for 11th on the list.
In that same game, Lamar Jackson scored his first rushing touchdown since Week 1. It was Jackson’s 35th career rushing TD, right behind Rodgers.
With Week 14 not yet over, Allen, Rodgers and Jackson are joined by at least four other quarterbacks that scored rushing touchdowns on Sunday:
