Josh Allen Planning Equipment Change After His Week 2 Injury

A bruised nose won't stop Josh Allen from playing on a shortened week.

The Buffalo Bills quarterback momentarily exited Sunday's 30-10 win over the New York Jets when blood gushed from his nose. Allen returned, and the reigning MVP will start a Week 3 game against the Miami Dolphins.

Allen is making a slight uniform tweak to better protect his nose. Allen sported a helmet visor during Tuesday's practice, and the quarterback told reporters that he plans to wear it during Thursday's game.

While Allen has worn a helmet visor during past practices and college games at Wyoming, he couldn't recall ever using it during an NFL contest.

“Just trying to get used to it ... It doesn't really impact much," Allen said. "It's weird to say, but it's a little warmer in there. Your voice kind of echoes off it, too, so it's just a little bit weirder."

A bloodied nose won't stop Allen

Allen missed just two plays after suffering a bruised nose on Sunday. The 29-year-old got decked while keeping the ball on a second-down play in the opening quarter.

"I don't know what hit me," Allen said after the game, per ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg. "It was a knee, it was a hand, it was somebody, helmet. It just kind of came down right on the bridge of my nose and just started leaking."

The incident didn't scare Allen from leaving the pocket. He still tallied 59 rushing yards alongside 148 passing yards in a wire-to-wire victory at MetLife Stadium.

Allen's iron man streak continues

Allen hasn't missed a game since an elbow injury cost him four games of his 2018 rookie campaign. Including the playoffs, he's started Buffalo's last 120 games.

That streak doesn't appear to be in any jeopardy this Thursday. Allen will brush off the nose injury in hopes of maintaining his career dominance over an AFC East foe.

Allen is 12-2 with 37 passing touchdowns, five rushing scores, and a 108.8 quarterback rating against the Dolphins. Buffalo hasn't lost to Miami since Week 3 of the 2022 season, and Allen amassed 400 passing yards in that 21-19 road loss.

The Bills may want to think twice about calling a quarterback sneak, but Allen is ready to go for Thursday Night Football. The division clash starts at 8:15 p.m. ET on Prime Video.
