I want to start by saying that I fully understand it's just a practice and a helmet. Now that I've got that out of the way, let me enjoy things.

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen has a wonderful history of showing up to the Blue & Red practice in his own unique way. The Blue & Red practice is the first practice back in Highmark Stadium after their run at St. John Fisher University.

Allen, riling up the fanbase, has spent the past few seasons coming out of the tunnel wearing a new helmet that sends the fanbase into a frenzy. Or just me, which is fine.

Bills Mafia knows how to show up and show out

Just to give an idea of how pumped up the Bills Mafia is to watch a practice, take a look at the scene from outside Highmark Stadium over an hour before the festivities inside the stadium were set to begin.

Today was no different from the NFL MVP and fan-favorite of the Bills Mafia. QB1 fully understands his fanbase and the tight connection between the city, the team, and its fanbase. Another classy move from one of the very best in the business.

With the James Cook contract situation ongoing, various injuries to both sides of the football, and an eagerness to start the season, this continued tradition from QB1 was a welcome one. The Red & Blue practice is always an electric atmosphere that showcases not only the veterans, but also allows the fanbase to get a closer look at some of the rising stars of the team.

Buffalo Bills make huge announcement

The Buffalo Bills had previously announced the highly-anticipated return of the red helmets, and we had a sneaking suspicion that QB1 would be donning those helmets coming out of the tunnel. Blue Cheese versus Ranch is a big argument in the Bills community, but I think the red helmets may be even more divisive.

With a slew of NFL teams announcing throwbacks, it was fitting that the team decided to give (some) fans what they were clamoring for with the return of the red helmet. While it'll only be for the last game of the season , it's still exciting. I've never been more ready to watch Josh Allen hand the ball off once in a meaningless Week 18 matchup... all while wearing the beautiful red helmet.
