It was an amazing season for Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who, during the regular season, completed 307-of-483 passes for 3,731 yards, 28 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also ran for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Combining all of that led him to win his first MVP award, be named Second-Team All-Pro and make his third career Pro Bowl.
However, in final quarterback rankings from Nick Shook of NFL.com, he still had Allen placed at No. 2 behind Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens.
"Yep, the 2024 league MVP isn't the top-ranked player in this year's final QB Index," he wrote. "As fantastic as Allen was this year, I simply thought Jackson was better. That's not meant as a slight against the Bills passer, though, or to take anything away from his exceptional season."
Of course, though, there's no doubt that Jackson was also exceptional, completing 316 passes for 4,172 yards, 41 touchdowns and four interceptions while also rushing for 915 yards and four touchdowns.
It's worth noting that these two were the favorites for the majority of the MVP race, which ended extremely close. Allen had received 27 first-place votes and 383 points, just beating out Jackson's 23 first-place votes and 362 points.
It's clear that voters were very torn on who deserved the league's most prestigious award, and that continues to be prevalent even after the season has wrapped up.
