Josh Jacobs has yet to miss a game for the Green Bay Packers this season. Unfortunately for the All-Pro running back, he is in serious danger of sitting out his first one of the year as the Packers prepare for their rivalry matchup against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
Jacobs, who has registered 169 carries for 648 yards and 11 touchdowns in 10 games played this season, is currently dealing with a knee issue. The Packers have kept a close eye on his status all week long. A new update on his injury surfaced on Saturday, indicating that the team is being very cautious with their star RB.
Jacobs is currently in his second season in Green Bay. The three-time Pro Bowler joined the Packers in 2024 via free agency, signing a four-year deal worth $48 million.
Last season, in his first year in Green Bay, Jacobs recorded 301 carries for 1,329 rushing yards and 15 TDs. He also caught 36 passes for 342 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Jacobs played all 17 games last season, but he is now at serious risk of missing his first game for the Packers. This is after the 27-year-old suffered a knee contusion in last Sunday’s win over the New York Giants. Jacobs missed practice on Wednesday and was a limited participant on Thursday and Friday.
The Packers have officially listed Jacobs as questionable to play in Sunday’s game against Minnesota. On Saturday, senior NFL reporter Adam Schefter of ESPN provided a crucial update on Jacobs’ status for the game.
"Packers plan to work out RB Josh Jacobs, who is listed as questionable due to a knee injury, in pre-game warmups before deciding whether or not he will play vs. the Vikings, per source.
"Though Jacobs knee is structurally sound, it still is tender from last week and the Packers have another game in four days on Thanksgiving in Detroit to consider. But the team wants to see how Jacobs feels pregame before making any decisions," Schefter posted on X.
Based on this report, it appears that Jacobs has a good chance of playing on Sunday. As Schefter reported, the Packers will make their final determination closer to kickoff.
It is also noted in the report that Green Bay will be back in action on Thursday, which means that it’s going to be a quick turnaround for Jacobs if he ends up taking the field on Sunday. The fact that the Packers play twice in five days will very likely factor into their decision on Jacobs’ final status against the Vikings.
It’s the Packers who will host Sunday’s rivalry showdown at Lambeau Field, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET. Green Bay enters the game with a 6-3-1 record, while Minnesota currently stands at 4-6.
