Josh Jacobs Will Likely Remain with Packers

On August 27th, Packers running back Josh Jacobs was charged with two misdemeanors. Initially, Jacobs was booked for five charges after the altercation with his girlfriend. Despite the two official charges, Josh Jacobs will likely remain with the Packers.

It is a known fact that general manager Brian Gutekunst does not tolerate any type of negative behaviors within the team. Many believed the Packers would cut Jacobs due to the two charges, one being misdemeanor battery and the other being criminal damage to property.

Without Jacobs, the Packers would be dwindled down to MarShawn Lloyd and Chris Brooks. Lloyd has a lengthy injury history that has prevented him from touching the field in the NFL. Chris Brooks is a solid blocker, but not a guy you’d want in your one-two punch.

While there was a lot of speculation on which direction the Packers would take regarding the Jacobs’ situation, head coach Matt LaFleur cleared the air.

Matt LaFleur stated, “I fully anticipate him being a member of our team” when asked about Jacobs. Despite LaFleur making it clear that Jacobs would be a part of the team, he did indicate that he was unsure what his availability would look like.
