It was a tough loss for the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Not many were giving them a chance against the Philadelphia Eagles on the road in the wild-card round, but to go out like they did must have felt like a gut punch.
The Packers lost, 22-10, and while the defense played admirably for much of the game, Jordan Love and the offense struggled. He completed 20-of-33 passes for just 212 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions.
Meanwhile, running back Josh Jacobs had another good game with 81 yards and a touchdown — which broke a Green Bay record for consecutive games with a touchdown with nine — but after the contest, it was clear that Jacobs doesn't think the status quo will stick this offseason.
That's a good thing because even though they were a playoff team, the Packers were mediocre at best in 2024. For Packers fans down in the dumps after the loss, it may cheer them to hear that Jacobs is also apparently motivated to hop on the phones and see what kind of talent he can bring to Green Bay in 2025.
A Josh Jacobs quote that might interest you:
— Matt Schneidman (@mattschneidman) January 13, 2025
"Our locker room is gonna be different. We got some guys due for a contract this year. We don’t know what that’s gonna look like, how that’s gonna shake up, but I know I’m gonna try to get some guys here."
The Packers' two biggest needs this offseason are arguably pass rusher and wide receiver. Interestingly enough, Jacobs has two former teammates from his time with the Las Vegas Raiders would could look really good in Green and Gold, and one of them already has experience in those colors.
Could pass-rusher Maxx Crosby and wideout Davante Adams be swayed by Jacobs to join back up with him in Green Bay? Several things would have to happen for that to be a reality, but it sounds like Jacobs is willing to go on the aggressive.
