JuJu Smith-Schuster would've signed with Chiefs if he left Steelers

JuJu Smith-Schuster revealed that if he had not returned to Pittsburgh for another year, he would have headed to Kansas City to team up with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

"I think, just seeing K.C. and bro, Andy Reid was just calling me and he was sending me Lombardi Trophy pictures like constantly," Smith-Schuster explained on the Michael Irvin Podcast. "We had a good talk, so it would've been K.C. after the Steelers."

The Chiefs don't have much in terms of receiver depth, so Smith-Schuster would have had a clear opportunity to become the third receiving option behind Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. However, he ultimately decided to stay with the Steelers, signing a one-year, $8 million deal.

Smith-Schuster also addressed why he didn't go to Baltimore, which was rumored to offer him a bigger contract than Pittsburgh. He said he stayed away from the Ravens for a variety of reasons, including the run-heavy offensive attack and joining the biggest rival of the team he's spent his whole career with.

"Lamar [Jackson]'s a really, a heavy run offense with the backs that he has," Smith-Schuster explained. "I just, just point being facts. His No. 1 target was [Mark] Andrews, who's a tight end."
