Julian Edelman ready to move past Tom Brady era

Julian Edelman and former New England Patriot Tom Brady were attached at the hip before the quarterback decided to leave for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

How does Edelman feel about losing his longtime quarterback? In a video conference call on Monday, the wide receiver seemed more than ready to chug along without him.

"Obviously it's a little different (not having Brady around), but you've got to move on and understand this is a business," Edelman said, according to Darren Hartwell of NBC Sports Boston. "You wish him well. That's when you instantly start thinking about what you have to do to prepare yourself to go out and contribute and help the team for the upcoming year.

"We've played a lot of ball together. I love him to death, but the train keeps moving, as it will when I'm not playing here or something. I mean, it always keeps going. So, we've got to worry about the people we have here."

Edelman and Brady won three Super Bowls together in the 11 seasons they spent as teammates, and while the two share a special bond, it appears he's ready for the Cam Newton era in New England to begin.

The 34-year-old already proved his interest in Newton by working out with the former Carolina Panthers signal caller earlier this summer.

If Newton wins the starting gig with the Patriots, Edelman may be primed to have one of his best seasons to date.
