Julio Jones Makes Major Announcement on Friday

There have been plenty of star receivers that have graced both the college football and NFL levels, but none may be more feared or dominant as Julio Jones was.

In his three seasons at Alabama, Jones racked up 179 catches for 2,653 yards with 15 receiving touchdowns while also adding two scores on the ground. His stellar college career, along with the fact that he was 6-foot-3 with his blazing 4.3 speed led to him being selected with the No. 6 pick in the 2011 NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons.

Jones played in the NFL for 13 seasons with four different teams. A journey that the 36 year old announced was coming to a close on Friday.

During his career, Jones was named to seven Pro-Bowls, five All-Pro teams and led the NFL in receiving yards twice.

He walks away from the NFL having recorded 914 catches for 13,703 yards and 66 touchdowns.

After spending the first 10 seasons of his career with the Falcons, Jones then spent a season with the Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Philadelphia Eagles.

He last played in 2023 with the Eagles, suffering a concussion in the team's NFC Wild Card loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

While the final few years of his career weren't as dominant as the ones earlier in his career, he will forever be remembered for just how much of a freak he was. There aren't many players like Jones, and it could be a while before we see someone his size with his speed who is able to be as effective as he was.
