Just for kicks: Taylor Heinicke's shoe collection grows with every win

Taylor Heinicke added to his shoe collection with the Washington Commanders' 23-10 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Heinicke began a tradition of buying a new pair of sneakers after every win and already has four new pairs of Jordans, each in the color of the team he won against.

The trend started with a win over the Green Bay Packers and continued with over Indianapolis and Philadelphia.

Head coach Ron Rivera announced the team's decision to stick with Heinicke as starting QB over Carson Wentz after Sunday's win. Heinicke led the team to an upset win over previously undefeated Philadelphia last Monday night, 32-21. Whatever controversy was percolating in D.C. was squashed when Heinicke backed that performance up with another victory in Houston.

The decision to stick with Heinicke means he will have plenty more opportunities to add to his growing shoe collection.

Heinicke is 4-1 in five starts in 2022. He is 90-of-148 (60.8 percent) for 1,031 yards and five touchdowns and four interceptions.

The Commanders' next game is Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons (5-6). He may want to go ahead and place a pair of red-and-black Jordans in his shopping cart.

Heinicke won his previous meeting against the Falcons in Week 4 of 2021, 34-30. He finished the game 23-of-33 for 290 yards and three touchdowns.
