Just Not Very Good

The Miami Dolphins were annihilated by a bad Cincinnati Bengals team on Sunday, which reminds us once again that the 2025 Dolphins are just not very good.

The only decent players are De’Von Achane on offense and Jordyn Brooks on defense.

And our punter, Jake Bailey.

The reality is that the entire team needs an overhaul.

This includes replacing head coach Mike McDaniel, though indications are that Stephen Ross is inclined to keep him.

With some good fortune, maybe the young players on rookie contracts can improve to at least a respectable status and begin the rebuild, but that is yet to be seen.

For now, the team is heading into a top 10 draft choice in 2026.

And with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New England Patriots rounding out the season, there is a good chance the Dolphins finish 6-11.

That is a good thing if we make the right draft choice, something former General Manager Chris Grier miserably failed at more than once.

Regarding quarterback Quinn Ewers, let’s give him time to develop.

He was on the scout team the entire season and was thrown into the starter role with one week of practice with the offense.

An awful defensive performance exacerbated the beating by the Bengals, so Ewers was not helped at all by the rest of the team.

On a positive note, Ewers showed he can scramble enough to dive for a short gain and run a quarterback sneak, even though the play failed to get a first down.

It shows that McDaniel was severely limited in the plays he could call with Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback.

And it was refreshing to see a Dolphins quarterback use his legs to avoid a sack.

So, we will look forward to next week with the stands at Hard Rock Stadium likely filled with Bucs fans, and watch as Ewers gets another chance to prove he belongs in the NFL.
