For a few hours last week New York Jets fans were collectively going "woe is me" when quarterback Justin Fields went down with an injury. But at least for now, their prayers have been answered.
The leg injury that Fields initially suffered was soon revealed to be nothing more than a toe sprain. He was quickly listed as day-to-day. At worst, an injury like that would have limited him from some practices for a couple of weeks - hardly the end of the world.
But in an appearance on Kay Adams' Up & Adams show, Fields offered even better news for the fans. He declared that "the toe is ready to go!"
"The toe is all good. The toe is ready to go," he said proudly. "That's a good slogan... We're done with the toe (discussion)."
That's definitely a relief to be sure.
"The toe is ready to go...!!!"

Field was by far the most noteworthy offseason signing that the Jets made over the past few months. The former Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback joined the team on a two-year, $40 million contract but with the cap hit spread out over several years to be more team friendly.
If Fields is successful for the Jets in 2025, it quickly opens the door for Fields to get re-signed at a better rate. If he isn't and the Jets need to move on, both sides can part ways without taking on too much loss.
That said, the Jets have a lot working against them in 2025. They have a new head coach, a new general manager, an offense that has ranked in the bottom 10 for nine straight years and a defense that is good at limiting yards but struggles at limiting points.
Suffice it to say, the Jets will need great performances out of more than just their quarterback to find success in 2025.
