Justin Herbert Has Made Unfortunate History This Season
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

While the Los Angeles Chargers are doing well this season, Justin Herbert hit a slump Monday night.

That slump is putting him in the NFL history books, and not in a good way.

Despite the Chargers’ 4-2 start to 2022, Herbert wasn’t looking in his last game.

However, the reason could stem from an injury he suffered against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2.

While that could be the answer, what is this unfortunate history that he’s made this season?

Herbert Has Most Pass Attempts Without A TD In A Game

In the Chargers’ Monday night win over the Denver Broncos, Justin Herbert had 57 pass attempts.

However, he also had zero touchdowns, despite all those passes.

It set a record for most passing attempts in a game without a touchdown.

But beside the historic fail of no touchdowns, he also had one interception.

While his team won in overtime, his lack of scoring didn’t help the team.

With his lackluster performance against the Broncos defense, it’s possible Herbert isn’t fully recovered from his rib injury.

However, another issue is him missing his top receiver, Keenan Allen.

So can Herbert turn things around with Allen’s return?

Allen Gives Herbert A Second Threat In Passing Game

While Herbert has Mike Williams, he needs that second threat in the passing game.

With Allen coming back soon, it’s just what the young QB needs to change his luck.

He’s been solid, outside the poor game against Denver.

So when Allen is back in the mix, you can expect Herbert’s game to improve during the rest of the NFL season.
