The Arizona Cardinals released DeAndre Hopkins last week and is now a highly coveted wideout on the open market.
Hopkins recently named five quarterbacks he'd love to play with. The list included Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts and Justin Herbert.

Herbert was pleased to hear what Hopkins said about him and noted he's met the three-time All-Pro this offseason.
"It's really cool for him to say that," Herbert said on Monday. "I think that's really high praise. I've got a lot of respect for him."

As far as whether the Chargers will pursue Hopkins, that remains to be seen. Herbert was unwilling to offer any clues on the matter, thus deferring to the front office.
"I think that decision's out of my pay grade," Herbert explained. "That's for the front office to make. He's obviously a very talented, special player. He's had so much success in the league over countless years. I'm excited to watch him wherever he goes."
Receiver isn't necessarily an area of need for the Chargers at the moment with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams at the top of the depth chart along with Joshua Palmer as WR3 and first-round selection Quentin Johnston. Even so, the Chargers can use all the firepower they can get if they're to keep up with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas Chiefs in the AFC West. The more weapons the merrier for a QB, and if the Chargers want to maximize Herbert in his prime, doing their due diligence on Hopkins would be wise.
Hopkins is now 31 years old and his time in the NFL is running out. It'll be interesting to see if he chooses to join a contender or merely sign with the highest bidder. The Chargers are a contender with or without Hopkins, but he'd bolster their chances in the AFC.
