The Summer Olympics adding flag football for the 2028 games in Los Angeles, California has raised multiple questions surrounding the National Football League. Will they allow their star players to compete, especially since it will happen right before the start of training camp?
That question was answered quickly on Tuesday afternoon, as the owners voted to allow players to participate in the Olympics.

The league allowing it's players to participate in the sport is both good and bad. It will allow the world's best players to play on the world stage. One of those is Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, who was on site for the announcement, as the owners meetings are in Minneapolis.

The players union has received heavy interest from NFL receivers in participating, I’m told.
Jefferson did end up taking questions about the idea of playing in the Olympics and it was simple: it's a dream.
“To think about the chance of playing in the Olympics and getting a gold medal, it’s a dream.”
It's not going to be as simple as saying "I want to play." There will be many different factors to consider. Will it be worth it from a time commitment standpoint? Is it worth the potential to get hurt? Will someone like Jefferson be willing to play defense to get it done? Jefferson was candid about it.
“I definitely would look forward to it if it came down to it, but that’s something I have to ask myself.”
Jefferson would likely be the number one option when it comes to wide receivers in the NFL, especially with his movement skills in open space. That will immediately translate in the flag football game.
Vikings fans would be thrilled to see Jefferson in a position to win the gold medal, especially since this town hasn't had a championship in any of the four major mens sports since 1991.
