Justin Reid's elite mental acuity should never be questioned.
Reid, a veteran safety for the New Orleans Saints, has already more than proven himself physically and mentally at the highest level of professional football by earning a third big-money deal in free agency this offseason. Money talks, as they say, and Reid has a lot of it.
It also doesn't hurt that Reid has a couple of Super Bowl rings to prove his point as well.
But just in case Reid's intellectual prowess still isn't a renowned subject, perhaps a second consecutive Blitzchamps win will do it.
If you're unfamiliar, Blitzchamps is an annual chess tournament sponsored by, well, Chess.com that features eight NFL stars going head to head for charity. The tourney is online and Reid was the returning champion from the third edition in 2024.
This year, Reid competed against Philadelphia Eagles running back AJ Dillon, L.A. Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, Minnesota Vikings defensive lineman Harrison Phillips, New England Patriots wideout Mack Hollins, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, Chargers tackle Rashawn Slater, and retired cornerback Richard Sherman.
Reid is apparently used to winning on and off the field, because he came away with a win over Kyler Murray in the finals of Blitzchamps IV.
Congratulations to New Orleans Saints Justin Reid for winning #BlitzChamps IV!

He's the first EVER back-to-back BlitzChamps Champion and has won $30,000 toward his charity, @jreidindeed! pic.twitter.com/6TcFsytz8G
With the win, Reid's charitable organization, JReid Indeed, gained $30K to put toward its greater mission of empowering disadvantaged youth through athletic, nutritional, and technological initiatives.
Up next for Reid is another charitable event, the second annual JReid Indeed Celebrity Golf Tournament, to be held at Blue Hills Country Club in Kansas City on June 23.
Despite leaving for a sort of homecoming in New Orleans in free agency, Reid is still very much tied to the Kansas City area, He played for the Chiefs for three seasons and filled a major void in the secondary after the departure of Tyrann Mathieu (also now with the Saints) in 2022.
Reid made 49 starts over three seasons in K.C. and helped take the team to the Super Bowl each and every year, with two wins to show for it. He originally entered the NFL as a third-round pick of the Houston Texans in the 2018 NFL Draft.
