Kansas City Chiefs add former UFL WR to the roster following Day 8 of training camp
Albert Cesare/The Enquirer / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Kansas City Chiefs are signing wide receiver Kwamie Lassiter II, per a report from James Larsen of Pro Football Newsroom.

Lassiter was most recently with the UFL's Memphis Showboats this past spring. In eight games played with the franchise, Lassiter recorded 24 receptions for 257 yards and one touchdown.

Lassiter played his college ball at the University of Kansas from 2016-2021, catching 148 passes for 1,550 yards and seven touchdowns, earning himself two All-Big 12 honorable mentions. He went undrafted during the 2022 NFL Draft, but signed with the Cincinnati Bengals thereafter.

Lassiter spent most of the 2022 and 2023 seasons on the Bengals' practice squad. He has appeared in just two NFL games, catching one pass for two yards. Lassiter was unable to stick around on Cincinnati's practice squad in 2024, leading him to the UFL.

At 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, Lassiter has solid speed and primarily works out of the slot. Him signing with the Chiefs following injuries to WRs Hollywood Brown, Xavier Worthy, and Skyy Moore during Monday's training camp practice is notable. Brown is dealing with an ankle injury, but NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported the team doesn't believe it to be serious.

Moore is dealing with a hamstring injury, and Worthy is in the NFL's concussion protocol. The Chiefs have an off day on Thursday, so we'll get a clearer picture of the three's availability on Friday. Kansas City will soon have to make a corresponding move to make room for Lassiter on the roster.
