Chiefs QB announces retirement after winning second SB

A Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is retiring

A Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is going out a winner. The Chiefs won a breathtakingly close game Sunday night to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35. Head coach Andy Reid was asked a few times after the game if he was contemplating going out on top this offseason. He’s not, but a player of Reid’s is.

According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, Chiefs backup quarterback Chad Henne will  retire after the Super Bowl.

That’s Henne’s second Super Bowl win with the Chiefs. The 2008 second-round pick has been with the team since 2018. And he’s had a few big-time games as Patrick Mahomes’ backup. Henne came in for Mahomes twice in the playoffs and played a key role.

Henne made a few crucial plays to run out the clock and preserve a Divisional Round win over the Cleveland Browns two years ago. He orchestrated a 98-yard touchdown drive against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Divisional Round this postseason.

Henne will finish his 13-year NFL career with 13,290 yards passing, 60 touchdown passes, and 63 interceptions. He also had four rushing touchdowns. And now he’ll leave the NFL a winner of three AFC Championships and two Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs.
