Kansas City Chiefs TEs Travis Kelce and Robert Tonyan aren't the only players using the break between mandatory minicamp and training camp to hone their skills. Chiefs DE George Karlaftis is also getting in on the action, attending an entirely separate player-hosted event.
As Tight End University wraps up in Nashville, Tennessee, Sack Summit 2025 is set to begin in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Wednesday, June 25. There, the NFL's top edge rushers gather to exchange tips, tricks, and push the art of rushing the passer forward.
Free-agent edge rusher Von Miller founded the summit, which he now hosts annually alongside Las Vegas Raiders edge Maxx Crosby and New Orleans Saints edge Cameron Jordan. This year, they'll be joined by NFL legends Chris Long, Shawne Merriman, and Robert Mathis, who will look to help mentor the next generation of NFL edge rushers.
Karlaftis will join fellow NFL edge rushers, including Cleveland Browns' Myles Garrett, Cincinnati Bengals ' Trey Hendrickson, and Dallas Cowboys ' Micah Parsons, among others, in Vegas from June 25-27 for unique instruction, demonstrations, and more.
The No. 30 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, George Karlaftis, had his fifth-year option picked up by the Chiefs. In just three seasons in Kansas City, he has become a two-time Super Bowl champion, accumulating the second-most sacks behind only star DT Chris Jones. He reached career-high marks in tackles for loss (9) and QB hits (28) during the 2024 NFL season, and a career-high in sacks (10.5) in the 2023 NFL season.

It’s a who’s who of QB killers out here today
Always love this event. It’s so cool to see the way these elite pass rushers view the game #Raiders pic.twitter.com/4Qf5VY0PgG
Karlaftis has sharpened his pass rush skills alongside Chiefs legend Tamba Hali , but attending the Sack Summit this year is just another way to hone his skills and boost his chances of making the 2025 NFL season his best yet. Even though he's under contract for two more years, the audition for his next deal truly starts now. Players typically have some leverage on the fifth-year option when it comes to striking a long-term deal. Still, a career year in 2025 could light a fire under the Chiefs to get a deal done sooner rather than later, especially with deals for Trent McDuffie and Trey Smith also on the horizon.
