Kansas City Chiefs LG Joe Thuney's status remains up in the air for Super Bowl LVIII due to pec injury
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro LG Joe Thuney still doesn't quite know if he'll play in Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Thuney's status remains up in the air whether he'll have a chance to practice and play in Super Bowl LVIII. He told Rapoport that he's "just taking it day by day" and emphasized that this is a new situation for him.

Thuney, of course, suffered a strained pec against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC divisional round.

The last we heard on Thuney's injury, Andy Reid wasn't ruling out the chance that he'd be able to play in the Super Bowl against the 49ers. Thuney has yet to practice this week. I'm told he didn't participate in the team's padded practice on Monday, but he did get some manner of work in.

Speaking to KSHB-TV's Aaron Ladd during Super Bowl opening night, Thuney gave some more insight into what he's dealing with.

"Yeah, it's kind of just a day-by-day, kind of do what I can each day, the most I can and kind of see what happens towards the end of the week," Thuney said. "Not trying to think too much about the future, just trying to do what I can each day."

We'll see what the future holds for Thuney, but as we learned in the AFC Championship Game, there's not much drop-off when Nick Allegretti is in the lineup.
