The Kansas City Chiefs made six roster moves on Wednesday, clearly trying to create space on the 90-man offseason roster ahead of official undrafted free agent signings for their rookie minicamp over the weekend.

According to the league's daily personnel notice, the Chiefs waived three players, released a pair of veterans, and received an international roster exemption for one player. Here's a quick breakdown of all the moves:

  • TE Baylor Cupp (Waived): A 2024 UDFA signing out of Texas Tech, Cupp spent most of the season on the practice squad. He appeared in one game last season and was targeted once, but dropped the pass. Cupp has been spotted at offseason workouts with Patrick Mahomes in Texas this offseason.
  • TE Anthony Firkser (Released): Firkser is probably the most notable player let go. He joined the practice squad last season after Jared Wiley's injury. He played in three games for the Chiefs last season, playing 51 combined snaps on offense and special teams. He recorded no stats in those games outside of a tackle on special teams.
  • OG McKade Mettauer (Waived): Another 2024 UDFA signing, Mettauer missed the entire 2024 NFL season due to an injury that landed him on injured reserve.
  • S Jason Taylor II (Waived): A reserve/future signing this offseason, Taylor never got a chance to play a down for Kansas City, let alone practice in front of the coaching staff.
  • LB Shaun Bradley (Released): Another reserve/future signing who didn't play a single snap for the Chiefs in practice or otherwise.
  • OT Chu Godrick (Exempt): The Chiefs have received an international roster exemption for Godrick for the third consecutive year. He will not count against the 90-man offseason roster in 2025. Should he land on the practice squad again, he can also get an international exemption. If he sticks on the 53-man roster, he'll count against it.

The Chiefs have not officially announced undrafted free agent signings following the 2025 NFL Draft. The team had nine free roster spots available, and they're reported to have signed 16 players in undrafted free agency thus far. The math would track that most of the reported signings are, in fact, signings, and not misreported rookie minicamp invites. That might not be the case for one player, though.
