The Kansas City Chiefs will be playing on two holidays in 2025.
On Monday we learned that they will host the Denver Broncos on Christmas Night, and Wednesday morning it was revealed that the Chiefs will travel to Dallas and take on the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day.
As usual, the Cowboys are hosting a Thanksgiving Day game in the 3:30 p.m. CT timeslot. The last time Kansas City played on the holiday was back in 2006 when it defeated the Denver Broncos at home in what was the first ever primetime Thanksgiving game.
The Chiefs have played in Dallas on Thanksgiving before, when the two teams met during the 1995 season. Both were among the best in the NFL that year, but the Cowboys were the better team on that day, defeating K.C. 24-12. The Cowboys would go on to win the Super Bowl, and the Chiefs lost to the Indianapolis Colts in the divisional playoff round.
It's a bit surprising that the NFL chose the Chiefs to face Dallas on Thanksgiving since the ratings are almost always high regardless of who plays. It will be nice to have such a marquee matchup as both teams should be in the thick on the postseason hunt. However, in the Chiefs' situation, you have to feel for them a bit having to play on both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The rest of K.C.'s schedule will be released later today. It is heavily expected that it will kick the season off against the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil in Week 1. As always, it can be expected that the Chiefs will receive multiple primetime games. Stay tuned with us here at A to Z Sports for all the latest scheduling updates.
