Kansas City Chiefs Projected To Make Major Addition To Defensive Secondary

The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for the 2024 NFL season as they look to go for a three-peat as champions. After being counted out for the majority of the 2023 campaign, they found a way to overcome their weaknesses and win the Super Bowl over the San Francisco 49ers. They’ve had a busy offseason and are primed to be one of the favorites to win another championship this year.

As long as Patrick Mahomes is in town, the Chiefs are going to have a fighting chance to win big. However, they have done an excellent job of continuing to add talent to their roster even when they lose key pieces.

Even though we’re late in the offseason and most roster moves have already been made, there are still quite a few good players available on the free agency market. There is one player that has been projected to end up signing with the Chiefs.

Kansas City Chiefs Projected To Make Major Secondary Addition

ESPN’s Bill Barnwell took a look at potential landing spots for the top remaining free agents around the NFL. He has former superstar safety Jamal Adams ending up with the Kansas City Chiefs.

“Get him to Chiefs coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, who can surely find a spot in the lineup for a player with Adams’ talent and ability as a blitzer.”

During the 2023 season with the Seattle Seahawks, Adams again struggled with injury issues. He was only able to play in nine games after playing in just one during the 2022 campaign. In those limited appearances, Adams ended up with 48 total tackles and two defended passes.

Despite the injury issues that have plagued Adams, there is no question that he could be an impact player if he gets back to full health. Being able to play in the Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive system could help him as well.

Kansas City has found a lot of success by signing players and implementing them into their system in recent years. Adams would likely be no different. There is no denying the playmaking ability he possesses and it would be worth a gamble on a one-year contract to see what he can do.

At 28 years of age, Adams still has some football left in the tank. Without the injury issues he has struggled with, he would have continued his dominant career trajectory.

It will be interesting to see who ends up giving Adams another chance. The Kansas City Chiefs would be wise to be the team to throw him a one-year prove it contract.
