Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes makes sure to keep the competitiveness up at OTAs

When you win a Super Bowl, let alone three in five years, it's easy to get complacent and feel like you're now okay if you lose and don't keep winning. That happens very often. It's hard to keep that same competitive, killer mindset up when you have already done what everyone wants to do two times in a row. The Kansas City Chiefs want to make sure that doesn't happen.

During OTAs, when the groundwork is laid on the field for all players, complacency can creep in. Yet, the Chiefs' superstar player, widely regarded as the best in the league, refuses to let his teammates rest on their laurels. He consistently challenges them, regardless of the season.

On Wednesday, he did that.

"As the years go on, you start playing against the same guys over and over again," Patrick Mahomes told the media. "It's that competitive trash talk. Going up against guys like Drue (Tranquill) and Nick (Bolton) and some of the DBs – you talk trash in the locker room, but you love on each other too.

"We're always competing, and at the end, we're talking about it, trying to find ways to make each other better. I have to give away some of my secrets that I know about them, and they do a little bit of the same."
