Tyreek Hill’s potential return to the Kansas City Chiefs remains a popular talking point among fans and analysts, yet the latest comments from his longtime agent have cooled speculation that a deal is imminent.
The 32-year-old wide receiver was released by the Miami Dolphins earlier this year after tearing his ACL in Week 4 of the previous season, limiting him to just four games. Before the injury, Hill was on pace for another strong receiving campaign, and his history with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid made a reunion in Kansas City an obvious storyline throughout the offseason.
Drew Rosenhaus appeared on the Pat McAfee Show on Friday and made it clear that Hill is not rushing back onto the field.
“I don’t expect Tyreek Hill to sign before the season,” Rosenhaus said. He added that Hill recently sent him footage of himself running hills and that the receiver “looked great.” When Rosenhaus told him as much, Hill replied that he still had work to do and was not ready yet.
Rosenhaus emphasized that he is not applying pressure or imposing any deadline.
“I am not pressuring Tyreek, nor am I setting a timeline for him. I think that what I’ve said to Tyreek is, ‘Take your time. It’s not when you come back, it’s how you come back. We want you to come back when you feel your best. There’s no sense of urgency timing wise.’”
The agent described Hill as a future Hall of Famer who still has plenty of productive football ahead of him. While acknowledging the seriousness of the ACL injury, Rosenhaus expressed confidence that observers will be impressed by the quality of Hill’s rehabilitation. He stated it is not an exaggeration to say Hill will play this season, though the exact timing remains uncertain.
When Hill does sign, Rosenhaus believes he will be a highly sought-after addition capable of influencing the playoff picture.
That assessment aligns with Hill’s established reputation as one of the league’s most explosive playmakers, a skill set that previously helped Kansas City capture Super Bowl LIV.
For now, however, the focus remains on completing the recovery process rather than forcing a midseason arrival or waiting for another team to suffer an injury at the position.
The comments effectively pause the most aggressive versions of the Chiefs-Hill rumor mill. Kansas City’s offense has shown signs of needing an extra spark after several seasons of declining regular-season production, and Hill’s familiarity with the system would offer an immediate advantage.
Yet Rosenhaus’ remarks indicate that any potential signing is more likely to occur later, once Hill feels fully prepared. Until then, the receiver will continue his rehabilitation away from the spotlight, leaving teams and fans to wait for the moment he decides he is ready to impact games again.
