Kansas City Chiefs to tender ERFA CB Nazeeh Johnson ahead of 2024 NFL free agency
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs are set to retain one of their own ahead of the 2024 NFL free agency period.

A source tells A to Z Sports' Charles Goldman that the Chiefs have a deal in place with ERFA CB Nazeeh Johnson, which will be made official ahead of the 4:00 p.m. ET deadline on Wednesday. With just one accrued year of service, an ERFA tender amount will be a one-year deal worth $915K for 2024.

Johnson suffered a season-ending knee injury back in training camp, but he is expected to make a full recovery for the 2024 NFL season. Before the injury, Johnson was trending to start at cornerback in the team's nickel defense opposite CB L'Jarius Sneed and CB Trent McDuffie.

Should the Chiefs move on from the franchise-tagged Sneed, look for Johnson to be one of the top in-house competitors with a chance to replace him.

"They have big things planned for me," Johnson exclusively told A to Z Sports on Saturday, March 9.

According to Chiefs Digest's Matt Derrick, ERFA LB Cole Christiansen G/C Mike Caliendo and DE Malik Herring have also been re-signed.
